JOE MCCARTHYwas born in Columbus, Ohio, and raised in Bangor, Maine. He is a 1993 graduate of the University of Vermont, where he earned a B.A. in English. Following college Joe played professional hockey for a year in the Toronto Maple Leafs organization before joining the Thomson Corporation, with whom he worked in Chicago and in Boston for eight years, serving ultimately as vice president of the firm's corporate services division. Joe earned his J.D. degree from Suffolk University Law School in Boston in 2006 while employed full time at Thomson. He is a member of the bar in Maine and in Massachusetts and concentrates his practice in commercial transactions and real estate law.
