John K. Hamer was born in Germany and grew up in Amherst, New Hampshire.  He received his B.A. from McGill University, and earned his J.D. and a Master of Studies in Environmental Law from Vermont Law School.  Prior to joining Rudman & Winchell, he served for over eight years as Assistant City Solicitor for the City of Bangor.  He is the author of “Municipal Regulation of Nude Dancing”, published in the Maine Bar Journal, Vol. 22, No. 1, Winter 2007, and “Handicap Discrimination, Zoning, & the Federal Fair Housing Act”, published in the Maine Bar Journal, Vol. 13, No. 4, July 1998.  He also serves as the Vice Chair of the Bangor Center Corporation and is a Member of the Bangor Target Area Development Corporation.
